Drs. Somes, McCollum, McKeever, and Schulte are now offering telemedicine visits for our patients. Our physicians are providing these visits using video conferencing to connect virtually with the patient and caregiver. Telemedicine is new to our office and many of our families. We will work with each family individually to provide the most appropriate care for each situation as it arises.

Telemedicine allows our physicians to care for each patient remotely using audio-visual communications. This service is offered through the use of a smart-phone text message, providing a link to a virtual waiting room and then creating a real-time connection between physician and patient. If the patient/caregiver does not have access to a smart-phone the physician will provide their services using audio communication only.

This service is available to all established patients with Guardian Pediatrics. The caregiver and patient must be present to initiate all telemedicine visits provided to children under the age of 18 years.

Telemedicine is offered, but not limited to, the following visits:

• Dietary/Feeding concerns
• Sleep concerns
• ADHD/Behavior concerns
• Mental Health concerns
• Academic concerns
• Rashes
• Conjunctivitis
• Upper respiratory infections
• Fevers
• Pharyngitis
• Follow up visits at the physician’s discretion

Telemedicine is not appropriate for all conditions or patient concerns. A physician will review all triage calls and determine which type of visit will be best suited for every appointment.

Telemedicine appointments will be billed through your insurance company. All copays will apply as if the visit was in office. Any remaining fees will be billed to the patient after the insurance company has reviewed each claim.
